April Updates!
Take a look at what is new at Booksby Press!

March was busy preparing for the MBS Conclave so there is only one new book almost ready for release now. The Conclave was small but a great success. 31 people from across the US and four European countries met in Asheville April 4-7 to talk, learn, and enjoy miniature books. There were two successful auctions, one silent the other live, where many fine books found new homes. There were several good lectures that covered topics such as miniature art books, Victorian decorated cloth bindings, making micro-miniature books, the history of Hungarian miniature books, and an outstanding collection in a Scottish castle. Thursday was the all-day book fair where several publishers and book dealers offered their best. The fair was well attended by the public and many children were introduced to miniature books and even got to make their own books to take home. Of course, Booksby Press had its own table with a wide selection of Booksby Press books, reference works, and older books by many other publishers. By far, the best part of the Conclave, as always, was meeting with friends, old and new, and sharing our love of miniature books.

If you missed us in Asheville don’t worry. there are still opportunities to meet us in person. We are now setting up the fourth Saturday of every month at the Parma Bazaar (next date, April 22nd) Parma Bazaar and at the Ann Arbor miniature show May 12-13. MiniatureShows
Gentle Wonderings

The new release this month is a short book of poetry by Victoria Rose titled Gentle Wonderings. 36 pages bound in tie-dyed paperboards with printed paper labels, Victoria shares her thoughts on nature, grief, and life in general. Measuring 2-5/8”x2”, this open edition book is now available on the website for $15.

Upcoming Releases

We are planning a micro-miniature edition of Gentle Wonderings to be released later this month.

Book VI of the Book Culture series will go into production next with a planned early May release.

The embroidered book Trees with text by Joyce Kilmer and embroidery by Andrea Boltresz is quickly becoming a reality. I have not seen the covers, but a little bee told me they have gemstones incorporated into the embroidery. I am so excited about this project; I cannot wait to get it to you.

In the wings are still two other Book Culture books, the poetry book Touching the Harp Strings by David Cohen, and hopefully another scary book from the pen of Patrick Hansma, so keep checking back for them all.

I am close to offering personalization for my line of miniature journals that will include the owner’s name in gilt on the cover.

Getting the first catalog together is taking longer than expected so no release date is available yet, but you will be the first to know when it happens.
