Hello Every Body, It's been about a year now since I launched Body Loyalty into the world - the actual date is a bit debatable - and I have spent this year trying to figure out how to begin sharing a concept that is made up of everything I've ever learned and every experience I've ever had without just taking people through my whole life story. It has been a real challenge to figure out where to begin and how to bring people along. Finding what pieces are needed first to understand the next piece, or what assumptions I'm making that I need to make explicit. I've been working hard to create something longer than a TikTok, more comprehensive than a blog post, that can serve as an introduction to Body Loyalty. I wanted something someone could hand a friend or client to explain what we talk about here in a simple, direct way. So I made a brochure. It's actually too long to be a brochure. I don't even make you give me your email address for it, because I hate that. I just want these ideas to be as accessible as possible. For us to be healthy, we need a lot more than diet and exercise. That's just your physical health. It also requires tending to your emotional health, your mental health, your social health, and probably a period of recovery as you address some of the harm you've experienced by not having your needs met to begin with. But there really isn't a professional who can help you figure out how to meet all those different facets of your health. We have to do that for ourselves, in whatever circumstances we find ourselves in. My hope is that through the Body Loyalty method you can find some scaffolding, some screening tools, some destigmatizing, to support you as you learn how to meet all the aspects of your body's needs. |
