Take a look at what is new at Booksby Press!

Since the Ann Arbor Miniature Show things have slowed down a bit at Booksby so I am using the time to catch up with my inventory of older books as well as preparing new books for you. June should see three new books released. The sixth Book Culture book, A Life with Books, Three Essays Comes out this weekend. The poetry book Touching the Harp Strings by David Cohen is set for its formal release next weekend. The final planned June release will be my second doll house book, Gentle Wonderings 1:12.

A Life with Books; Three Essays written by Todd Sommerfeld is the sixth book in the Book Culture series. It tells the stories of what one man has done for his love of books and the outcome. 34 pages printed on 80# Mohawk Superfine soft white. Quarter bound in bonded leather with marbled boards by Stephen Pittelkow.2-5/8”x1-3/4”. An edition of 200. $25+ shipping.

Touching the Harp Strings contains selected poems written by David Haskel Cohen throughout his life. 45 pages printed on a fine Mohawk writing paper. Quarter bound in faux leather and hand marbled papers by Robert Wu with silk moire endsheets. 2-1/8”x2-7/8 oblong. An edition of 200. regular copies $25. Of those, 20 will be available as deluxe copies with gilt edges and slipcase, $45.

Gentle Wonderings 1:12 will be an exact reduction of the regular edition, uniform with its predecessor, Seven Secret Stories 1:12. When available it will be $15+ shipping.

Work is ongoing on several other books as well. The new Patrick Hansma scary book, Ashtophet is moving thorough the design process for an early October release. Books VII and VIII of the Book Culture series have been chosen and will soon go to layout and design. I am currently looking for essays for books XI and X. I am hoping to find a librarian willing to talk about their life in the library and a reader who has something special to say about their love of reading, though I am interested in hearing from anyone passionate about books in any way. The text for the embroidered book Trees is almost done as are the silks, so we should be in good shape for a November release. My ambitious author, Victoria Rose, has big plans for an upcoming miniature book that will again push the limits of my skills so I cannot wait to hear what exactly that is and share it with you. As more information becomes available for each of these projects it will be shared in future editions of this newsletter.

In other news, Booksby Press is expanding its social media footprint by venturing into TikTok with a series of videos highlighting “Unusual Mini Books.” I am not sure where this may lead but I am considering offering bookbinding videos at some point down the line. A Linktree link has been set up as well so you can easily find all of Booksby’s pages in one place. 

There are two more dollhouse shows I am considering selling at, one in St. Louis in October and another in November. If there is any interest from anyone in seeing Booksby Press at either one, we will attend.
