What a truly amazing journey these last few years have been. Ever since stepping out of my comfort zone (which is an understatement) to understand and eventually embrace the unique qualities of my deepest self, it has changed my life dramatically… for the better. It has been a time of great growth and experiences to propel me towards a deeper understanding of the true power we hold within ourselves. It was never easy. In fact, going deep within yourself and being completely honest about who you are, or more importantly who you want to be, is terrifying.
Through my own personal experiences, watching those around me and working with my amazing clients, one powerful lesson keeps repeating: we are our own worst enemy. Self doubt, self judgement, self hatred, shame, guilt, and regret create reenforced steel blocks that limit ourselves from living our best lives. Learning to love and trust ourselves is the most powerful healing act we can do for not only ourselves, but also for those around us. I am often asked, “How do I help my (child, spouse, friend, loved one)?” My answer is the same… you cannot make choices for anyone else, we teach others by doing the work ourselves and teaching them how to help themselves.
Just the other day I took my children to the movies to see Sing 2. This movie has profound examples of the greatness we each hold within when we stop allowing others to define our limits, including those we put upon ourselves. It is scary to put ourselves out there, to be and embrace our uniqueness because we have been taught that there are “normal” limits we must remain in to make others feel comfortable. Normal is my least liked word as it means to conform to a standard; to be ordinary. So many spend their lives trying to feel normal. If you have to try so hard, you are living outside your true authenticity. Separating from the mass and showing others your true self will inspire others to step out of their shadows and join you in setting a new standard … accepting and loving all forms of uniqueness. The key to this though, is to do it with love for yourself and others.
Since taking that bold step in controlling my own life, I have taken responsibility in my own healing on all levels. The more work I put into myself, the more I am capable to help others. I take great pride in just recognizing something I have been doing, saying, thinking, that has created negative patterns, because only then can I do something to change it. You don’t have to be able to communicate with spirit to be able to do this, you start by being honest with yourself and listening to your inner voice.
Dare to break from your comfort zone. You will be amazed at how much it will change your life… for the better.
